On 24-25 October 2018 NORNDiP organized the first annual conference on diversity in physics for promoting participation, bridging the gap on gender equality, contributing to reduce the barriers that cause the under-representation of women in physics, and creating a vibrant Nordic physics community. The conference was held in Stockholm, Sweden, with great success. The conference includes keynote, invited and contributed talks, poster session, group work, dinner and networking. Through the panel discussion on diversity introduced by two invited talks from ATHENA SWAN and JUNO UK-projects, we had the opportunity to better understand the mechanisms behind gender inequalities, propose constructive actions, and present female role models to young physicists. The final programme can be found here.
Topics: Everyone, physicists and scientists working in physics-related topics, junior and senior, were invited to register to the conference and, optionally, to submit an abstract for an oral or poster presentation.
The program of the conference featured:
– Keynote, invited and contributed talks
– Poster session
– Group work, panel discussion and quiz
– Two lunches
– Social dinner
